Welcome to the history page
Formed in 1927 as the first Lodge of the newly formed GLQ-GLE (1926) all other Lodges were from other Banners such as the Queensland Banner, Grand Surrey Banner, Limited Banner and others. Over the years it has gone through hard times and in the eighties it almost closed. But a couple of Brothers fought on and today it is in a healthy condition meeting with around 12 regulars, it has had a few name changes over the years. It started out as Moreton Lodge No.9 as it was in the Shire of Moreton. Later it moved to Ipswich Moreton Lodge No.9 then in 1994 it was named after a Brother who kept it alive in the hard times, so it became L.H.Ford Lodge No.9 but there were a few of the members who did not agree to this change, and after a motion held in the Lodge it reverted back to Ipswich Moreton Lodge no.9, two of it's members who still attend can be traced back to 1960's Paul Friese R.O.H & 1979/80 William McAvoy R.O.H. This Lodge has a strong link with Royal Amberley Lodge No.25 and have formed a sister relationship. It's history also connects it with Redbank Lodge No.77, Rosewood Lodge, Ainslie Keith Morris lodge & Inala Lodge No.116 as their Brothers are or have been members of our Lodge.
Our Secretary was
the Late Grand Primo of the G.L.Q-GLE the Rt Hon Sir Anthony John Pearson who
sadly passed on to that great lodge above. We have at present three Grand
Lodge officers for 2004 in this Lodge.
We are part of the Ipswich & District Guild which combines Prim Lodge (it is run in Primo Lodge format), Knights Chapter & R.O.H Assembly, an Idea taken from Victoria, they helped us set it up and it works very well.
